Inspection Management¶
Inspection Management is the heart of VIMS. It is where inspections are created, carried out, reviewed, and closed — and where the observations raised during them are tracked to completion.
Open the Inspection Management group in the sidebar to reach its pages:
| Page | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Inspections | The main list of inspections. Create new inspections, open existing ones, filter, and export. |
| Calendar | The same inspections shown on a month/week calendar. |
| Planning | A planning view of vessels and their upcoming inspection due dates. |
| Observations | A list of observations across all inspections, with its own filters. |
| Task Scheduler | Schedule and track inspection-related tasks, in a list or on a calendar. |
How the pieces fit together¶
- An inspection is created for a vessel, based on an inspection model (the question template).
- While carrying out the inspection you record observations against the model's items.
- The inspection moves through its lifecycle — Draft → Under Review → Reviewed → Closed — and cannot be closed while it still has open observations.
- Each observation is tracked from Open to Closed, with a risk rating and follow-up comments.
